This full day excursion to the city made famous by the composer Mozart is located on the northern edge of the eastern Alps & surrounded by superb countryside. The city is the capital of Salzburg Province & it has over 140,000 inhabitants. Mozart was born here in 1756 & the group will visit his birthhouse. The memory of Salzburg’s greatest son is kept alive thoughout the city; in the house where he was born, in the house where he lived, at the Mozart Monument & at the “Magic Flute House”. The sites of Salzburg are countless including; Baroque churches, monasteries, the impressive fortress, charming palaces, lovely parks, museums, music festival sites & the wonderfully-preserved “old town” which is primarily reserved for pedestrian traffic. Upon returning to Munich, the eveining is free with no group dinner planned tonight. (B,L)

TUESDAY

Today is a free day to sightsee on your own. Munich has plenty of great museums, churches, markets, sidewalk cafes & restaurants. Lunch is also on your own but dinner is with the group at the world-famous Hofbrauhaus where you will enjoy a hearty German buffet meal & folkloric show. (B,D)

WEDNESDAY

After a big breakfast, we meet our coach & guide for a full day of
touring that includes a visit inside the legendary Neuschwanstein Castle
(famous as the model for Walt Disney’s movies), the Weiskirche (white rococo church) & the Linderhof Castle. A group lunch will be served at a most beautiful location before heading later on in the day to Oberammergau. Hotel checkin is followed by some free time before a group dinner is served at your hotel. (B,L,D)

THURSDAY

This morning is free for you to explore Oberammergau for shopping & sightseeing on your own. The town is also known for its woodcarvings & the beautiful murals that are painted on many of it’s buildings. After lunch is served at the hotel, it is time to head to the theater for the play. It is a short walk from the hotel with the curtain going up at 2:30 PM. Between 5:00- 8:00 PM there is a break for a group dinner back at your hotel. The play then resumes at 8:00 PM & concludes at 10:30 PM. (B,L,D)

FRIDAY

After breakfast & hotel checkout in Oberammergau, it is back on the coach for a drive west through southern Germany to the charming Black Forest village of Titisee. There will be a group lunch in Titisee. This is also the perfect place to buy an authentic Black Forest cuckoo clock & have it shipped back home. After a group lunch, it is back on the coach for the drive to Strasbourg, which is easily one of the most beautiful cities in all of Europe. Upon arrival, we start with a stroll around the Petit France section of the “old city”, followed by a visit to the beautiful red sandstone cathedral. There will be time to shop for souvenirs before heading to the pier for embarkation on a CroisiEurope ship which will take you on a Rhine River cruise to Koblenz. Embarkation takes place at about 6:00 PM. Time is allowed to settle into your cabin before heading to the ship’s lounge for a welcome drink & an introduction of the crew. This is followed by dinner on board. After dinner, it is back to Strasbourg by coach for a nighttime canal cruise around the old town area of the city. Overnight is in Strasbourg on board the ship. (B,L,D)

SATURDAY

The ship gets an early start sailing north on the Rhine. Breakfast is served on board while passing alongside the German towns of Speyer, Ludwigshafen, Mannheim & Worms. Lunch is served on board before arriving in the beautiful river town of Rudesheim at 4:00 PM. Shortly after docking, a minitrain picks up the cruise passengers & takes them around Rudesheim to see this charming wine town. There will be a winetasting of the local product & a tour of the Siegfried Musical Instrument Museum. Arrival is back at the ship in time for dinner on board. Overnight is in Rudesheim & we highly recommend that you go into town after dinner to sample the nightlife on the famous street that the locals call the Drosselgasse. It is alive with traditional German music & you will have yet another chance to sample the local wines & beers. (B,L,D)

SUNDAY

The ship departs Rudesheim at 9:00 AM sailing north while breakfast is served on board. Today, you will view the most beautiful stretch of the Romantic Rhine River. From Rudesheim to Koblenz, lush vineyards surround picturesque wine towns while castles are seen perched high above the Rhine Valley. It is quite possibly the most beautiful part of Germany. You will also pass alongside the fabled Loreley Rock. Lunch is served on board before arriving in Koblenz where disembarkation takes place at 2:00 PM. From there, a private coach & guide arrives to take the group for a farewell dinner party & overnight in the German spa town of Wiesbaden. (B,L,D)

MONDAY

After breakfast & hotel checkout, your coach & guide arrive to take you for a short ride to the Frankfurt Airport & your transatlantic flight back to the U.S. (B, Lunch on the plane).
