Daly Itinerary
May 19
Arrival at Frankfurt International Airport. After clearing Customs, group participants will meet their guide and coach for their European program which begins with two days along the Romantic Road of Germany. The group begins with a stop in the town of Creglingen for a light lunch and a tour of the Herrgottskirche to view the precious Altarpiece of the Virgin Mary. From there, it is on the Romantic Road to Rothenburg, the famous medieval city where the group will call its home for the next two nights.After hotel checkin, the group participants will have a walking tour of the walled city in order to familiarize themselves with their surroundings. That evening, a group dinner is planned at a local restaurant.Overnightis in Rothenburg in the city center Reichskuchenmeister Hotel.(Breakfast on the plane, L,D)
May 20
After breakfast, your coach and guide arrive at the hotel to begin an excursion to the beautiful city of Wurzburg on the Main River. While in Wurzburg you will tour the Residence, the superb Baroque Palace, which was built between 1720-1744. It is one of the largest palaces in all of Germany. There will be time for lunch on your own in the city and an opportunity to visit other sites before heading back to Rothenburg. A group dinner is planned in Rothenburg. Overnight is in Rothenburg. May 21
After breakfast & hotel checkout, we begin a transfer day to the enchanting Alsatian city of Strasbourg. Now you will tour of one of the most beautiful cities in all of Europe. We start in the city center with a walking tour that begins with a stroll around the Petit France section of the old city followed by a visit to the beautiful red sandstone cathedral. During the tour, lunch will be served at the Maison Kammerzell Restaurant, a building that dates back to the 1400’s. There will be plenty of time after lunch to explore on your own and shop for souvenirs before embarkation in late afternoon on the CroisiEurope ship. After a welcome drink and dinner on board, the group will go on a canal cruise around Strasbourg to view the city at night. After the canal cruise, transfer back to the ship to begin an overnight sailing north on the Rhine River.(B,L,D)
May 22
The day begins by sailing past the towns of Lauterbourg, Speyer and Mainz. Breakfast is served on board as you continue north towards Koblenz. This is the most beautiful stretch of the Romantic Rhine as towns like, Kaub, Oberwessel and St. Goar come into view before docking in Koblenz around 6.00 PM. In the distance, you can admire the Stolzenfels Castel and the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. We invite you to accompany your ship’s hostess on an informal walk around the old town area of Koblenz before returning to the ship for dinner. This is followed by a free evening with an overnight on board in Koblenz.(B,L,D)
May 23
Breakfast is served on board while cruising back south along the most beautiful stretch of the Romantic Rhine between Koblenz and Rudesheim. Lush vineyards are dotted with picturesque wine towns while romantic castles are perched high on the tops of the hills. We pass by the legendary Lorelei Rock before arriving in Rudesheim at around 3.00 PM. You may enjoy some free time to shop and sightsee until 7.00 PM, or depart on an optional guided city touron the miniature train. This tour calls in at a wine cellar to taste some of the local vintages before visiting the musical instrument museum. Both lunch and dinner will be served on board the ship. We encourage you to spend an enjoyable evening in Rudesheim on the lively Drosselgasse with its open air taverns and dancehalls. Overnight is in Rudesheim. (B,L,D)
May 24
Breakfast is served on board while cruising up the Rhine towards
Speyer, while passing the towns of Wiesbaden, Nierstein, Worms and Mannheim along the way. Lunch is served on board. In the afternoon, the group departs on a tour of Heidelberg which takes in portions of the castle and the city center. Return to the ship from the Heidelberg tour around 6:00 PM followed by dinner on board, plus, a gala evening and dancing. An overnight sailing takes us south towards Strasbourg. (B,L,D)
May 25
After breakfast on board, it is time to disembark our Rhine River cruise ship. A coach and guide is waiting at the ship pier in Strasbourg to take the group to see one of the top gardens in the entire world on beautiful Mainau Island on Lake Constance. This small island is the masterpiece and life’s work of Count Lennart Bernadotte, originally of Sweden. The Count died in 2004 at the age of 95 but not before transforming this Park into an ecological paradise with flowers, shrubs and trees gathered from all over the world. The island also boasts a beautiful palatial estate, a fine restaurant and cafeteria, a petting zoo, a butterfly house and several greenhouses. It is worth seeing even if you’re not an avid gardener or a landscaper. A group lunch will be served during your visit and then it is back in the coach for a drive along the northern coast of Lake Constance to the Austrian city of Bregenz where the group will overnight at the Mercure Hotel. A group dinner is planned for this evening. Overnight is in Bregenz. (B,L,D)
May 27
After breakfast at the hotel, the morning is free for individual sightseeing and souvenir shopping. There is a group lunch served at a local restaurant in Oberammergau before heading to the theater for the play. It is a short walk to the theater with the curtain going up at 2:30 PM. Between 5:00- 8:00 PM there is a break for a group dinner at another local restaurant before the play resumes at 8:00 PM. The Passion Play concludes at 10:30 PM. Overnight is in Oberammergau. (B,L,D)
May 28
After a big breakfast and hotel checkout, it is back on the coach for a touring transfer to Munich. The first stop will be to the lovely Linderhof Castle, a small villa-like palace located in the secluded Ammergau Alps region. This castle was built by Ludwig II and it is surrounded by forests making it an ideal location for hunting. The castle also has wonderful fountains and gardens. A group lunch will be served in this part of Bavaria before heading on to Munich where you will check into the King’s Hotel upon arrival. There will be a short walking tour of the city. Dinner is on your own in Munich. Overnight in Munich. (B,L)
May 29
Today begins with a tour of Munich where you will view the most
famous places in the city, including; the Nymphenburg Palace, the English Garden, Karlsplatz, Schwabing & the Olympic Park, site of the 1972 Summer Olympic games. Upon completion of the tour, you will arrive back in the city center. Lunch is on your own and there is time for sightseeing on your own in this pleasant city. In the evening, there is a farewell buffet dinner and folkloric show at the world-famous
Hofbrauhaus. Overnight is in Munich. (B,D)
May 30
After breakfast and hotel checkout, it is time to drive by motorcoach to
the Munich Airport for the transatlantic flight back to the U.S. (B, Lunch
on the plane)
